A Look Back

A Look Back

16 years ago this weekend I showed at my first ever Haflinger Nationals, Haflinger Breeders Organization with the beautiful two year old stallion A Rock. My first best of show and my first English Pleasure National Champion for my now father in law, Dean. Who would have thought at that time I would now be married to my best friend, have two healthy, amazing boys, a few close friends and my family all still here and supporting this crazy dream. We have 80 acres, wonderful Haflingers, and I’ve traveled to Europe not once, but twice, picked out, purchased and then stood in the most famous Haflinger arena in the World as our filly was named a Reserve World Champion while representing the United States. A far cry from the Oklahoma NRHA reining derby huh mom? This picture was taken today, of our 5 year old son, Ty, petting on my A Rock son, pip. The point of this post is to never give up on your dreams, always move forward and to Hell with what anyone thinks or says about you on your journey. Be kind, and always remember there may be someone watching who wants to be you when they grow up. The doubters will always doubt and if I had a dollar for every time I heard “what are you going to do with a degree in horses?” Until the day I totally embarrassed my mom at her work when asked that and I said “I’m going to shovel shit the rest of my life.” And love it! Excited to see what our future holds for us!
